Unofficial Title: The Office Swiss Army Knife
As a fourth-year student at UCSB studying sociology and history of law & public policy, Hazel is learning the ins and outs of estate planning and probate while providing essential support to our attorneys and paralegals. Her diverse background includes working in food service and at the spa at the Ritz Carlton Bacara – experience that taught her the art of graceful service under pressure. “My unofficial role is to help with all the little things around the office that anyone may need,” Hazel explains, “whether it’s fixing technical issues, reaching out to clients, or helping with marketing campaigns and events.”
What does Hazel love most about working in estate planning? “Learning something new every day – not just about the career, but about communicating with people from all backgrounds,” she shares. “I love speaking to clients on the phone and being able to help them get through hard times.” That combination of empathy and eagerness to learn makes her an invaluable part of our team.
Here’s something that might surprise you about our Legal Administrative Assistant: Hazel is a Division 1 athlete who competes in backstroke and sprint freestyle for UCSB! Swimming has been her lifelong passion and is actually what brought her to Santa Barbara in the first place. Those early morning practices and competitive meets have clearly trained her well for the fast-paced demands of a busy law office.
Fun Fact: Hazel brings the same dedication to helping clients navigate difficult times that she brings to every race – focused, determined, and always ready to go the extra mile.
(That's what really matters!)
